Another piece of
good news. For the June, 2005 Healing the Healers Retreat in the Lake
District, we will have the good fortune of Ian Warwick co-facilitating.
In case you don't know Ian, he has provided support and consultation
to people working with sexual abuse survivors for many years. He has
been an active member of the survivor community assisting the development
of projects in Liverpool, Leicester, and Leeds and continues to campaign
regionally and nationally for survivor services. He is a member of the
UK All-Party Parliamentary Group on Sexual Abuse Survivors.
Ian has worked with male survivors for twenty years and set up the first
male survivor group in the UK outside of London, SURVIVORS (SHEFFIELD)
which was formally constituted as a charity in 1991. He is currently
Pathway Leader for the Diploma in Social Work graduate degree programme
at the University of Huddersfield.
In addition to all of his impressive accomplishments, he is a solidly
good person: smart, funny, creative, and warm. His participation will
improve the quality and tone of the retreat.
And it looks like
the third event this summer (following the Healing the Healers Retreat
and the Victims No Longer Male Survivor Recovery Weekend) will be a
similar workshop for women survivors. The details aren’t yet in
place, but I'll let you know the details as soon as I have them.
